Bible Study Week: God sees everything (Hebrews 4:13)
Greetings to all our readers around the globe. I trust you had a fantastic week.
Today's Bible study revolves around a personal testimony that unveils a facet of God's character. Let me begin by sharing my story, and then we'll explore what the Scriptures say about God in this context. In a particular year, I set career goals, trusting God for a promotion. Unexpectedly, I was approached for a senior role at an engineering firm. Excited and familiar with their work, I agreed to the interview.
As always, I prayed and prepared diligently. Gratefully, I received a positive outcome within a week. However, the initial offer was below my current salary, leading me to decline it. Frustrated, almost in tears, I turned to God, thanked Him for the opportunity, and praised Him, believing His will was done. Surprisingly, within an hour, the recruiter presented a better offer, which I accepted without hesitation. I signed the offer letter and awaited the onboarding process.
Then, a new challenge emerged: IT issues prevented the verification of my right to work in the UK. Maintaining hope, I returned to prayer, asking for God's will to be done. I distinctly remember saying, "If it's not Your will, Father, please close the door. I don't want to be where You are not. I won't sustain myself there. Where is Your hand in all this?" For three weeks, I prayed this prayer. Midway through the third week, the company proposed a claw-back agreement.
Reflecting, the day I learned about this agreement marked is the day I lost my peace. Eventually, I realized, by God's grace, that the agreement violated immigration policies. One restless morning, I discovered these issues, realizing that accepting the job would jeopardize both my employment and work permit. In the worst-case scenario, I could face deportation if I didn't secure another job within three months as a result of accepting this offer. The day I uncovered these truths, my peace returned. With the newly certainty, I withdraw my initial acceptance, declined the offer for the second and final time.
While not a fervent prayer warrior, I attest that a simple prayer in times of uncertainty goes a long way. We may not see what happens behind the scenes, but God, Almighty God, sees everything. Hebrews 4:13 assures us, "Nothing in all creation is hidden from God's sight." Job 28:24 further states, "He views the ends of the earth and sees everything under the heavens." Trusting and believing in God means we never walk blindly.
Surrendering everything to God, committing plans into His loving hands, ensures you will never be ashamed. Psalm 25:3 confirms that no one who hopes in God will ever be put to shame. I get emotional thinking of situations God has rescued me from, whether from a cult organization in 2022 or being saved from a kidnapping attempt in 2017. My lifestyle didn't warrant God's mercy, but He saved me anyway.
Psalms 32:10 affirms, "Many are the woes of the wicked, but God's unfailing love surrounds those who trust in Him." I ponder what Daniel knew about God that made him confidently ask the king for three days to inquire from God when his life was on the line. What kind of confidence is that? In Daniel 2:22, Daniel tells us that God reveals deep and hidden things; He knows what lies in darkness, light dwells in Him. He also says that it is God who gives wisdom to the wise and understanding to the discerning (Daniel 2:21).
Training your ear to hear God is a life-saving skill. In moments of trouble, when darkness surrounds you, it can be the difference between life and death. We learn this from Daniel's story and, in our walk with God everyday. We ought to continually yield ourselves to be led by His loving eye.
Dear reader, may you always commit your plans into the Lord's hands, and may He establish them. Regardless of what happens, be rest assured that His divine purposes will never be thwarted (Job 42:2). The ungodly trust in idols and swear by them, but we the children of God are led by the Almighty's loving eye.
