Christian testimonies: A long journey from Johannesburg to Kosi bay

A Pilgrim’s Journey: Returning to Kosi Bay by God’s Grace
“The heart of man plans his way, but the Lord establishes his steps.” – Proverbs 16:9
Greetings to you all in the name of our Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. I pray that you are well and standing firm in faith. With great joy and gratitude, I share this testimony of God’s faithfulness, as He has once again made a way for me to return to Kosi Bay. Though the journey seemed uncertain at times, the Lord, in His perfect timing, opened the door. As always, we give thanks to Jesus, who orchestrates every detail of our lives for His glory. May this testimony encourage many as we continue our pilgrimage in faith.
The Delay: Waiting on God’s Timing
“Wait for the Lord; be strong, and let your heart take courage; wait for the Lord!” – Psalm 27:14
For a while, I longed to reunite with the Cronje family. My heart was set on returning, yet every attempt seemed met with closed doors. In moments like these, it is easy to grow anxious, but I chose to trust in the Lord and wait patiently for His appointed time.
During this period of waiting, the Lord blessed me with opportunities to share Sent: Becoming a Fisher of Men in various places. The response from those who received the book was humbling and reaffirmed my calling. One memorable moment occurred at a hotdog stand near a shopping mall in Woodmead, where I met a bookstore owner. She marveled at meeting the actual author of the book she was about to display, a moment that deeply moved me. As I continued signing and giving away books, a woman unexpectedly offered a small contribution. Though I did not ask for it, her kindness was a reminder of God’s provision.
Then, in His perfect timing, the Lord made a way. The very next day, I received the opportunity to travel to Kosi Bay.
The Journey: A Test of Endurance
“The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord: and he delighteth in his way.” – Psalm 37:23
Early in the morning, I packed my belongings, had a small breakfast in Sunninghill, and then made my way to Park Station in Johannesburg. The city was alive with people rushing to their destinations, and traffic congestion made for a slow start. But despite the delays, I found peace in knowing that this was part of the journey God had set before me.
By 1 PM, we finally departed, and I was filled with anticipation, though I knew the trip would be long. The journey was physically exhausting—nine hours with only one stop at Piet Retief. My legs ached, and fatigue pressed upon me, but I kept my eyes on the destination.
At last, at 9:30 PM, we arrived in Kosi Bay. The familiar face of Henri greeted me with a warm smile.
"Welcome back, brother. Long time no see."
"It’s good to be back," I replied, feeling the weight of the journey lift.
That night, as I settled into my tent at "The Base," a deep peace surrounded me. The stillness of the place was profound—you could hear a pin drop.
God’s Work in Kosi Bay
“The harvest is plentiful, but the laborers are few; therefore, pray earnestly to the Lord of the harvest to send out laborers into his harvest.” – Matthew 9:37-38
Morning brought fresh joy as I reunited with the rest of the Cronje family. Much had changed since my last visit. The dedication and hard work of many had transformed the mission base. Though still a work in progress, the fruits of labor and God’s blessings were evident.
Over the weekend, I had the privilege of meeting the Vilakazi family and Philip, whose discipleship program for children has been flourishing. Playing soccer with the children at Philip’s home was a reminder of the impact that faithful service has on young lives. Seeing these children grow in faith reaffirmed that God is moving powerfully in Kosi Bay.
During my journey, the Lord also gave me two significant dreams. Though I do not yet fully understand their meaning, I trust that in due time, He will bring them to pass.
Gratitude and Farewell—For Now
“I thank my God in all my remembrance of you.” – Philippians 1:3
I am deeply grateful to everyone who played a role in making this journey possible. From the strangers I met in Johannesburg—at hotdog stands, bookstores, and bus terminals—to my dear sister, whose prayers and support strengthened me along the way. And, of course, to the Cronje family for their unwavering hospitality.
God’s plan is unfolding, and I am excited to see what He will do next in Kosi Bay. Until then, may we all continue to walk by faith, trusting that He who began a good work in us will bring it to completion (Philippians 1:6).
Until next time, may the Lord bless you and keep you.
