Christian testimonies: Journeying through Kosi bay

Brothers and sisters in Christ I would like to extend my greetings to you readers and also to those that are visiting this blog for the first time. I just wanted to give God the glory in all that He has done. The Lord has kept true to His promise and has kept us running in this race. I just wanted to share my testimony of what the Lord has been doing here in Kosi bay.

The rebirth of a beloved brother

In the last week or so, I was reminded about the command that Jesus gave to his disciples before going to heaven. For those that need to give context to what I am about to discuss one can refer to Matthew 28.

In our stay in here in Kosi bay we have been blessed to meet the people of this wonderful community in the villages of Manguzi. It is during this time that I met James at a SOLT seminar earlier during our stay in Kosi bay. In my last article I recall mentioning him as one of the people present at the Geise Passover supper.

Interesting in enough I hadn't heard his testimony until the Saturday of his baptism. His journey was never an easy one. Especially living in a community of people who have chosen to use traditional methods of solving spiritual problems. He was one of the victims of this enigma and that led to him meeting with Brother Phillip and Baba Vilakazi who prayed for his deliverance. Within that period of knowing the Geise and the Vilakazi family, he began to receive healing and also saw the need for repentance. It was then that he gave his life to Christ leaving behind his past in the pool where he was baptised and turning over a new leaf in his newfound journey as believer. The Bible says that on the day that a new believer is admitted into Heaven, there will be rejoicing in heaven as it is on earth. I believe that this was the case with our beloved brother James.

That was for me a highlight of the weekend reminding me of the command in Matthew Chapter 28 when Jesus gives us the GO and make disciples, baptising those he has called in his name. He is always there with us until all ages.

The visit to the AEC ministry

The Cronje’s and I have had an interesting journey thus far and this last Sunday the Lord put it in our hearts to visit the local African Evangelical Church in the heart of Shengeza village.

It was a surprise visit more than anything else but we were welcomed by the members of the AEC with love. It was a small group of believers who congregated in a small makeshift building to worship. Singing some hyms in Zulu the voices of the congregation was in view amazing and heartwarming. It is wonderful how the churches we have been to are able to bring out harmony in their songs without any added instruments.

The teaching however, focused on the life of King David and how the Lord manged to elevate him to the highest position of royalty from being a shepherd in his early days. That is a passage from 1 Chronicles 10 from verse 1. The key principle I suppose from this story is that obedience is far much better than sacrifice.

It is so profound how the Lord can use any of us to do the work of His will.

The visit to the AEC was an icebreaker of how ministry is held in the rural areas. Perhaps a learning opportunity gfor all of us I suppose.

In light of what I just mentioned, my prayer is that, more than just church membership, believers can start to actively participate in the Kingdom of God's mandate. That was one of the key points raised by Henri during his testimony at the church as he spoke about how Jesus saved his life.

Often times, we get so caught up with keeping up appearances and playing church that we miss the goal of what Jesus taught. Jesus is talking about bringing the kingdom of heaven to earth through me and you.

My hope is that the gospel is preached at all the corners of the earth. And also that when we finally meet Christ, he will say "Well done. Good and faithful servant".

Conclusion

Our journey continues here in Kosi bay as we seek out the will of the one who sent us. It has been a road with trials and tribulations but all this has been to test our faith as in James 1. I just want to thank the Lord for His promises and how He has kept faithful to them. I also pray that if you have read this far and followed our journey so far make time to pray for our growing family in Christ. I also want to encourage many of us to step up in faith and start making disciples of all nations as in Matthew 28. The time and season is now and we cannot keep postponing our calling to a later date. Thank you for all your prayers and support. I wish you all the best for the coming week. Be blessed.
