Christian testimonies: Returning back to where I started
Greetings to everyone who is blessed enough to read this blog post. As always, my heart is filled with joy when I have the opportunity to share what God has been doing in my life since we last spoke. The journey continues, and as I reflect on the last couple of weeks, I've had to do some serious soul-searching.The other day, I had the privilege to visit members of the fellowship group that I started out with in Johannesburg. It was an amazing experience to hear about their travels and to have a week of fellowship with them. What made it truly special was the unexpected turn of events during the first evening.
Tian, a fellow member of the group, had prepared a delicious supper using his aluminum three-legged pot. The atmosphere was perfect for hanging out and sharing a meal, with the Cronje's, the De Preez's, the Fourie's, the De Beer's, the Nieman's, and myself in attendance. We had just finished praying and discussed some scriptures during the fellowship, which also involved the local community of God's Kingdom church.
Then, seemingly out of nowhere, a group of angry clouds began to gather in the sky, followed by a strong wind that started to push us in different directions. The wind was so powerful that it lifted up my tent, leaving me in a state of shock as I desperately clung to it to prevent it from flying away. It was a moment that felt more like a scene from a blockbuster movie than a peaceful evening of fellowship. But, by the grace of God, we survived, and I am here to tell the story.
This experience served as a reminder of God's faithfulness. Every step of our journey is a testimony to others that we should keep running the race, no matter what challenges we face. It brought to mind a movie I watched recently, "Faith Like Potatoes," which tells the story of Angus Buchan. He spoke of how God used him to share the gospel with a divided farming community. It was a moment when he gave up his old life in a church on one Sunday morning, which kickstarted his ministry. Strangely enough, I was in touching distance of Angus when I attended the Mighty Men conference not far from Jeffrey’s Bay earlier this year.
However, there are times when we find ourselves in the role of Moses, refusing to go where God has sent us and making excuses. In such moments, God gives us a nudge and allows us to face situations where we learn that it's not our abilities that make us able to speak or see, but it's only through His divine wisdom. The Book of James tells us about the generosity of God in giving wisdom, and the life of King Solomon is a testimony to this point.
We are not on this journey by our own account; we are representing the one who has sent us. In those moments, I've had to answer difficult questions and sometimes had to challenge people's beliefs by citing scriptures that contradict their belief systems. I am just a man who, without the Spirit of God, cannot comprehend the things of divine wisdom. That's why I plead with you to humble yourselves and not lean on your own understanding but rather seek the things of God.May you be blessed.
