Christian testimonies : The return to George Part 2
Updated: Dec 17, 2023
I would like to greet all the readers from all walks of life. I would like to share so much in this article I can't wait to start. But before i dive into the gist of the matter and put some flesh to bones, I would like us to stand in unity in praying for all the bretheren who have dedicated their lives to serving God regardless of the persecution and trials that have come their way. All glory to God.
In the last edition of the two part series, of the George trip, the Fouries alongside Míriam joined me and the De beer family at the campsite in Carmel reatreat. It was awesome to have a partner to join me on my morning routine runs, that is Shaun and also to spend time in fellowship with everyone. The meals brought people together and the Fouries as well as the De Beer's showcased their cooking styles.
I had no doubt in my mind thar the wedding would be a perfect occasion to reunite the bretheren as well as start a new chapter in all of our lives. Before then, i got to meet Jak and his wife Talitha fot the second time in a space no less than a month. It was also good to meet James who was the host of the wedding event, as well as Sandra, the mother to Carly, who was the bride at the wedding. Uncle Adriaan and Aunti Mourin were also present to join us for one of the "potjie" meals that Tian had prepared.
It was also wonderful how the Lord made a way for the Cronje's and the du preez to join us in fellowship all the way from Harties. It was a long drive for the Cronje’s and the Lord was faithful and delivered them safely as well as the du preez who were first to arrive. During a similar time, the Niemans joined us for fellowship as well. The ladies had a morning fellowship that they had and the gentleman also did likewise.
The day of the wedding finally arrived on Monday, November 29th, and our moments of waiting in anticipation finally came to an end. It was so awesome how the word of God was shared amoungst the brethren through Uncle Adriaan who also joined Carly and Marc in matrimony.
A snake however, surfaced from nowhere and attempted to distract the people in attendance but fortunately enough, it just lazily strolled away into the bushes without causing harm.
Now, what I did find also, as a unique display of service to one another, was when both the bride and the bridegroom took turns to wash each others feet. That was for me a "prophetic act" of service, one which Jesus also did with his disciples.
There was so much to reflect on on the day of the wedding. From the cuisine to the music and the conversation going around the different parts of the venue. That was trully a day to treasure.
Unfortunately that was the time i had to say goodbye to several people and it was for me a bit painful yet peaceful. Even after the wedding, I was fortunate enough to walk with the cross with Henri and to also be later joined by Tjaart and Shaun as well as Rina. Now it was so amazing how that walk prompted a moment of fellowship as well as some divine appointments as we took the gospel to the streets. It was also good to bump into faces that recalled me from my previous walk with the cross.
That was also my final walk with the cross for a long time. I thoroughly enjoyed it. Now with all this said and done, it was time to say goodbye again to "George" the place and George and his family who were great neighbors of ours during our stay.
Carmel has been good to ne from the time i first arrived. It's two pianos had become my companions during my stay there. The Sunday fellowship at the kitchen soup was also a lovely moment and also taking a walk on the "prayer walks" was also great.
I wish I could write more but words are not enough to express my experience in that chapter of my life. If i haven't made any mention of you in this article, I ask for your pardon. I enjoyed every moment of my time with everyone. Well, its fascinating what happens next. Until next time hopefully if God permits, its goodbye.
