Thanksgiving Prayers: Thanking God for Creation.
Summer time in the United Kingdom is very unpredictable. You can easily experience three seasons in one day- summer, spring and winter all at once. Today, was unusually bright and sunny. After working non-stop the entire day to get some work done before my upcoming annual leave, I decided to take a stroll in the park nearby. As I stepped outside the house, the bright sun hit my face and I could not stop thanking God for the gift of life. Like a small child who is seeing the world for the first time with a fresh pair of eyes, I was very elated by the blue skies and the small rabbits that munched away on the newly mowed lawn. I realized that sometimes, I am so self-absorbed and obsessed by today's problems that I forget to be grateful in the present moment. As I read more of God's word, I begin to realize that there is more to life than the wealth, success and earthly things that we pursue so vigorously. Most recently, I was reading Apostle Paul's letters, the Book of Romans to be precise. were he spoke about how, mankind is a lump of clay in the potter's hand. He declared boldly, that we all live and die so that God's glory can find expression through our lives. No wonder, the vast majority of the early church was martyred. They had a unique understanding about the character of God, the meaning of life and death which seems to have escaped us in these times.
Dear reader, as you go through the hustle and bustle of life, pursuing whatever lofty goals and aspirations you may have set for yourself, do not forget the Creator who has made all things possible. We tend to conveniently, come up with long lists of requests but we never take the time to thank Him for the things, that He has already blessed us with. Today, let us present a thanksgiving prayer before God, thanking the Most High for creation and life as we know it. For if we are not thankful for the things that we can visibly see, how can we be grateful for the things unseen?
Read John 1:3, Job 12:7-10, Romans 1:20 and Psalm 104:24-27 for scriptural understanding.
Prayer:
Dearest Father, thank you for giving me this opportunity to burst through your courts with thanksgiving and praise. Thank you for your expressions of love clearly displayed through your creation. I often take for granted the life and the privilege's I have to be on this earth. You Father, Creator of all, made all things, without you nothing could have been made. You spread out the earth with all things that spring from it. You gave us the breathe of life so that we could walk upon this earth. The birds of the air, the bushes of the earth and the fish of the sea all know that it is by your hand that all these things were made. In your hand is the life of everything and the breath of all mankind. Since the earth was created, we have all been able to see the earth and the sky. Through everything you made, I can see your invisible qualities; your eternal power and divine nature. So I have no excuse of not knowing and acknowledging you. How can I not know you, when your hand is in the deepest places of the earth, when the heights of the hills are yours and when the sea is yours? By faith, I understand that all things were created by your command, so that what was seen was not made by what was visible. How great are your works Father! How great is your wisdom! For in your wisdom you made us all. Thank you for the life that you have gifted me with.
May your holy name be glorified and exalted in all the earth. In Jesus, mighty name I pray.
Amen.
